We travel in our motorhome throughout the year to shows and events. It certainly makes traveling fun having our own bed, bathroom and kitchen (referred to as a galley). I consider it our “meals on wheels”. We’ve been RVing for over 12 years now and just have a blast.
We have been known to dry camp (no hook-ups for water or electricity) in the parking lot where the show is and frequently are surrounded by several other vendors who are RVer’s. It’s fun and it gives us a chance to get to know each other.
Two years ago I actually decided it was time for me to learn how to drive and while I was scared to death, I’m glad I did and wish I had done it years ago.
Most of our travels are to shows but we do a lot of sightseeing along the way which makes it a lot of fun. We try to go some place new on each trip so we can check things off our bucket list.
From time to time I will post something on the blog about our travels and might even post some photos. The photo on the top left left is the outside of our motorhome.
The photo on the top right is the living area and dining area. It’s small and cozy but plenty of room for us and the dogs.
The photo on the bottom left is the bedroom. It has a queen size bed and because of my fibromyalgia we have a select comfort which helps me sleep with minimal amount of pain.
The photo on the bottom right is of me driving. It took 10 years before I got the nerve to do it but after ending up in the ER a couple of years ago it made me realize it could have been Al in the ER and we would have been stuck in Colorado until he was able to drive. So, while in Yuma, AZ a couple of years ago I took an RV driving class after the woodcarving show and I am so glad I did. I am no longer intimidated by this BIG BUS. This motorhome is about 35 feet long, which is short compared to some of these very expensive coaches seen on the road.
Our dogs love traveling with us and I’m sure they think life is one great big adventure. Shadow, my flat coated retriever mix likes to sit in the driver’s seat and everybody gets a chuckle when they see him sitting there like he’s driving. Thank god his feet are too short to reach the pedals. God only knows where he would take us. Allie on the other hand is content just looking out the window and barking at anyone getting a little bit too close to her “castle”. Both enjoy meeting new people and of course what retriever doesn’t. They are definitely born travelers which is good because we love traveling.
